This Sharks team can prove it is indeed a different operation than last year's bunch, assuming it doesn't pretend to be what it used to be.
Dan Boyle was not happy with his play against the Kings. If the Sharks want to take it to the Red Wings, they'll need their alternate captain to bring game on par with the letter on his sweater.
The decision did not hinge on whether he played Stephen Curry enough as much as it did on internal divisions. In short, Smart could not have saved himself.
The Sharks, despite advancing, were far from inspirational in victory. To go further than they've ever gone before, they will need to play a much better brand of hockey moving forward.
