SAN JOSE -- Sharks forward Andrew Desjardins, who was hit illegally in the head by Columbus Dane Byers on Saturday, returned to practice on Tuesday morning.

He wont be in the lineup against the Flames, though.

He skated today, and will be evaluated after the skate, Todd McLellan said. He wont play tonight, but the fact that he put the skates on and was out there is a step in the right direction.

I went on the ice and tested the waters a bit, Desjardins said. It felt good. We have to go day-by-day and make sure everything is right."

Desjardins, who hasnt yet taken a baseline concussion test, said he felt fine immediately after the game against the Blue Jackets, but admitted to feeling some symptoms the next day.

There was a little pressure and stuff, but it seems like most everything is gone now, he said.

Byers was suspended for three games by the league on Monday for his headshot at 3:01 of the second period.

McLellan reacted to that decision.

Were happy that the league sent a message, and hopefully, again, the players watch, listen and learn. They have to, and they have to take care of each other. It doesnt mean you cant play physical, but they are responsible for those type of hits, he said.
