Murray ready, but White out on blue line

SAN JOSE -- Douglas Murray declared himself fit to return to the Sharks lineup on Wednesday night when the team concludes its six-game homestand against the Vancouver Canucks.

Im ready, Murray said, when asked his status after Tuesdays skate at Sharks Ice.

The defenseman has been out since getting hit in the left hand with a shot on Dec. 3, causing him to miss the last 10 games.

The rugged Murray admitted he didnt think the injury would keep him out of the lineup for what is now nearly a month.

No, not this long. Obviously, I knew it wasnt going to be a couple days when it first started, he said. Its frustrating being out of the lineup and not being able to do what you usually do. Its nice that its good now.

Murrays return is convenient in that defenseman Colin White will miss some time with a lower body injury after leaving the 3-2 loss to Anaheim on Monday in the second period.

It is good timing, Todd McLellan said. With Whitey getting banged up last night, hell probably miss a game or two, and that allows Dougie to come back in and get his minutes and get his legs underneath him again.

Jim Vandermeer, though, is still recovering from a right hand injury that has kept him out for the last nine games. He admitted on Tuesday that he's still feeling some discomfort in the hand.

For me, as the last line of defense, if its stinging when its just bumping a little bit thats probably not a good thing. Might freeze it, might wait. Not sure yet, said Vandermeer.
