SAN JOSE -- Right wing Martin Havlat, out of action since mid-December following surgery on a partial hamstring tear, was activated by the Sharks on Thursday. He could play against the Predators.

During the morning skate, Havlat was on a line with Ryane Clowe and Patrick Marleau. He accompanied the team on its recent four-game road trip, the latest indicator that he was nearing a return to the ice.

Havlat injured himself jumping over the Sharks' bench during a win over the Edmonton Oilers on Dec. 17. He underwent surgery on Dec. 21.

Havlat, acquired in an offseason trade with Minnesota, has appeared in 26 games for San Jose, with two goals and 13 assists.

The Sharks were on the ice practicing when the news was announced. More details will follow as soon as the dressing room opens and coach Todd McLellan speaks with the media.
