Veteran goaltender Marty Turco still wants to play in the NHL. The Sharks just lost one of their netminders, Antero Niittymaki, until the middle of December at the earliest.

See where were going with this?

Turco, who was signed by the Blackhawks in the summer of 2010 in order to help defend their Stanley Cup title, was not brought back by Chicago at the conclusion of his one-year deal last year. After rookie Corey Crawford took the starting role from Turco last season, the Blackhawks decided not to resign the 36-year-old.

Turco, of course, spent nine mostly productive years with the Dallas Stars and is very familiar to Sharks fans. Hes on record as saying he doesnt want to hang up his pads just yet, despite what could be a promising post-hockey career in television.

With Antti Niemis status uncertain for the opener, Thomas Greiss and Harri Sateri lacking NHL experience, and Alex Stalock on the shelf until February, and its a good bet that GM Doug Wilson is on the phone today exploring his options. It wouldnt cost him a dime to bring in Turco on a professional tryout to see what hes got left in the tank.

So, we ask youwhat would you think if the Sharks added Turco on either a one-year deal or a tryout? Let us know below.
