Curry likely to play in opener vs. Clippers

OAKLANDIt looks as though Warriors point guard StephenCurry is going to try to give it a go tonight in the regular-season openeragainst the L.A. Clippers.Curry sprained his right ankle in Tuesdays exhibition gameagainst the Sacramento Kings and hasnt practice since. But he participated in the Warriors pregame walk-throughtwo hours before game-time and was playing with the starting unit. Curry thenwent through his usual pregame shooting drills.

He was wearing a brace on the ankle that extended up to justbelow his knee.Curry didnt practice on Saturday, but he did work out afterpractice with assistant coach Michael Malone. Curry went through a series ofshooting drills and tested the ankle coming off screens.He seemed to be going about 75 to 80 percent in thosedrills.Warriors coach Mark Jackson indicated on Saturday that adecision on Currys status didnt need to be made until beforetip-off.No reason (for Curry to practice), Jackson said. We get alittle bit more time to get treatment and make sure to give him the bestpossible chance to play. And well make a decision (Sunday).
Curry missed eight games last year because of the ankle buthad surgery to strengthen it in May.
