Kwame Brown: The right man for the job

Share

He was introduced at the Warriors' practice facility with all the fanfare of the neighborhood garbage man. Not to say in his 10 year NBA career Kwame Brown IS garbage, but some would suggest a former No. 1 pick (2001) of the NBA should be a household name for championships or All-Star appearances, not playing on 5 teams in 6 years. However, my impressions of the NBA journeyman is this: Hes the right man for the right job, and for the Warriors at the right price!Browns one-year deal with the Dubs dangles a NBA carrot in front of a guy who is close to 7 feet tall, has not only guarded, but semi-contained the likes of Dwight Howard, Andrew Bynum and other guys who are considered the pre-eminent big men in the game.Furthermore, if Kwames size doesnt impress you, how about this: hes 29 years old and has matured into a guy who sees his pro hoops mortality. He knows any day now NBA teams might say enoughs enough. Kwame is ready to fill Mark Jacksons role on the Warriors as the defensive post player theyve lacked and needed to actually call themselves a defensive team.Dont worry about his offense; Monta Ellis, Stephen Curry, David Lee and Dorell Wright will handle that, and Kwame can pick up where they leave off. As the saying goes, you cant teach size, and Kwames got plenty of it.So what can Brown do for you? If youre a Warriors fan, he just may prove defense wins games, and make the Warriors more than just a stop over on a West Coast road trip to Los Angeles.
