Free agent center Tyson Chandler, whom the Warriors hope tosign before the start of the 2011-12 season, was at Candlestick Park on Sunday, taking in the 49ers-Rams game.Chandler, who anchored the Dallas Mavericks championshipdefense, is perhaps the most coveted player in this years free agent class. And the Warriors have made him their No. 1 target. It is unknown whether or not Chandler is in town to meetwith Warriors officials. Nothing has been set up at this time, according toseveral people familiar with the situation. In addition, it is unknown how manymembers of the Warriors front office group are in the Bay Area at this time.

Interestingly, there is nothing preventing Chandler fromworking out on Monday at the Warriors downtown Oakland practice facility. Atpresent, with the collective bargaining agreement not yet finalized, every teamfacility is open to any player. If Chandler were to bump into a team official and chat, thatwould be OK, too. But teams and players cant enter into any oral contractagreements until the CBA is ratified. Most Warriors players were expected to return to the BayArea on Sunday and begin working out on Monday. Players can have only limitedcontact with team personnel at this point.Chandler, 7-foot-1, is considered one of the leagues bestdefensive centers, and interior defense is the among the Warriors biggestproblems. Chandler averaged 10.1 points and 9.4 rebounds in 27.8 minutes pergame last season for Dallas.Signing Chandler doesnt come without risk. He made 12.6million last season, and he is said to be asking for more than that in Year No.1 of what will likely be a four-year contract. That is a lot of money, and it would likely require theWarriors to use the amnesty provision on Andris Biedrins, something the team isreluctant to do because it believes it can trade Biedrins.Chandler also has injury history with his left ankle andtoe and has missed significant chunks of two of the past threeseasons.
