SAN JOSE -- The San Jose Earthquakes announced on Wednesday that the club has loaned goalkeeper David Bingham to Strommen IF of the Norwegian First Division until the end of their season in November of this year.
Bingham, 24, has made five MLS appearances since joining the Earthquakes through a weighted lottery on Jan. 26, 2011. The former All-American at Cal also started three of the club's four CONCACAF Champions League group matches and each of San Jose's six Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup games since 2012.
The Bay Area native spent most of his 2014 campaign on loan with the San Antonio Scorpions (NASL). He appeared in 10 games for San Antonio, helping them to the second-best record during the 2014 season at 10-2-3.
Strommen IF are 6-7-5 through 18 games while competing in the second tier of Norwegian soccer. Bingham will try and help the club reach the promotion playoffs. Strommen IF is eight points behind the final qualifying spot for the promotion playoffs with 12 games remaining.
