The San Jose Earthquakes acquired 23-year-old midfielder Jaime Alas Wednesday, on loan from Norway. A native of El Salvador, Alas has been a member of the Salvadoran national team since 2010.
"We’re really excited to have Jaime," interim head coach Mark Watson said. "We’ve been monitoring him for a long time and we’re delighted to finally have him on board."
"Jaime’s a player who we had in a year ago and during our 2013 preseason," general manager John Doyle said. "We’ve kept tabs on him and are excited to bring him into the fold."
The 5-foot-8 midfielder began his career with C.D. Luis Angel Firpo, where he scored twice in two games started. Alas transferred to Rosenborg BK last summer but saw action in just three league games, prompting him to search for playing time in MLS.
Per league policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
