NAPA – Lamarr Houston is back at practice.

The Raiders defensive end was out 13 straight days with an undisclosed injury, but made his return on Tuesday afternoon.

Houston came into training camp in the best shape of his life, hell-bent on being a leader on the field and in the locker room. Being sidelined so long hindered that prospect.

Houston participated in the padded practice, increasing the likelihood that he’ll play on Friday against the New Orleans Saints. Coach Dennis Allen will speak to the media after Tuesday's practice.

Starting defensive tackles Vance Walker and Pat Sims remain out.

Also, left guard Lucas Nix returned to practice after missing the preseason opener against Dallas. He’s missed most of camp with a knee injury, although a different ailment was responsible for his latest absence.
