Brown posted the following on Twitter from the account @81timbrown in the moments after the news.

"It is with great sorrow I acknowledge the death of one of my best friends in the world, Chester Mcglockton. Big boy as he was affectionately known by me, passed away overnight. Chester and I were almost inseparable during our days together with the Raiders."but what we quickly learned when he went to KC, our bond as friends became even stronger, not to be broken!! My knees are still weak and my hands are still shaking as I write this but I needed to put something in writing to honor a great man! What made him great was he LOVED the LORD! I saw that transition with him, in fact we made it at the same time and is one of the reasons our bond was inseparable.Chester and I were not ashamed to tell each other I love you, so in conclusion I LOVE U BIG BOY, sleep well!! Continue to pray for his 2 little girls and his wife!"

McGlockton finished his 12-year NFL career with 555 tackles, 51 sacks, 14 forced fumbles and four interceptions. He delivered a career-best 9.5 sacks in 1994.

McGlockton spent 2009 as an intern coach at the University of Tennessee under current USC and former Raiders coach Lane Kiffin.

He also served as an assistant coach at Hayward's Chabot College.

Raiders coach Hue Jackson also spoke in tribute of McGlockton, offering the following on Wednesday afternoon:

"Before I start off talking about our football team and what we need to do I think I need to say a couple of words about Chester McGlockton. Obviously we lost another great Raider today in my opinion. I got to know Chester myself personally since my time here. Id like to give Im sure from the team, the organization and myself, Id like to give our blessings, our prayers, to his wife Zina and their two beautiful kids," Jackson said.

"I got to know the young man in church at the Well where pastor Napoleon Kauffman is the pastor. This morning when I found out the news it was tough, Theres some guys here on this staff that obviously played with him and theres players here that know him but I think it kind of hit them pretty hard. A young man who was just starting to do so many other great things in his life and then all of a sudden life is taken away. But obviously God has a bigger plan for him.

"One thing I do know about him was he was a god-fearing man who spent his time at church and with his family. Were going to miss him. Its tough. But thats a part of this thing. I talked to the team about it today. Just the opportunities you get in this life, you never know when its going to be over but those things happen Hell always be in our thoughts and our prayers and well miss him tremendously. Again, our thoughts go out to his family."
