A look at the Raiders' possible 2012 starting lineup

Share

A week into free agency and the Raiders have become players, albeit, minor players. New general manager Reggie McKenzie's calculated approach has been one of business savvy as well as need.

The Raiders have thus far signed four free agents -- cornerbacks Shawntae Spencer and Ronald Bartell and right guards Mike Brisiel and Cooper Carlise, yes, that Cooper Carlisle -- so why not peer into a certain silver and black crystal ball?

Because it's never too soon to do such, and if the season started today, a look at how the Raiders' starting lineup might look:
OFFENSE
QB -- Carson Palmer
RB -- Darren McFadden
FB -- Marcel Reece
WR -- Darrius Heyward-Bey
WR -- Denarius Moore
Slot -- Jacoby Ford
TE -- Brandon Myers
LT -- Jared Veldheer
LG -- Mike Brisiel (would move over from his natural position of right guard)
C -- Stefen Wisniewski (would slide over to center from left guard)
RG -- Cooper Carlisle (he has only played RG with the Raiders)
RT -- Joe Barksdale

DEFENSE
DE -- Lamarr Houston
DT -- Tommy Kelly
DT -- Richard Seymour
DE -- Matt Shaughnessy
WLB -- Aaron Curry
MLB -- Rolando McClain
SLB -- Travis Goethel (a stretch, seeing as how he is a natural weakside 'backer, but they have to play someone here, what with Kamerion Wimbley cut)
CB -- Shawntae Spencer
CB -- Ronald Bartell
FS -- Michael Huff
SS -- Tyvon Branch
