SAN FRANCISCO -- An attorney for Raiders wide receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey entered a not guilty plea to an allegation of drunk driving on the player's behalf Thursday.

Heyward-Bey's attorney Ivan Golde indicated he would speak with prosecutors about a possible plea bargain. Heyward-Bey was not required to appear in San Francisco Superior Court

Heyward-Bey, 25, was driving his 2012 Range Rover on the bridge's lower deck on April 7 when he was pulled over by a California Highway Patrol officer who saw him speeding and weaving.

Prosecutors say Heyward-Bey was arrested on suspicion of DUI after failing a field sobriety test.

Heyward-Bey was the Raiders' first-round draft pick in 2009 and had a breakout season in 2011.

He addressed the arrest at a recent Raiders OTA workout, saying "I just kind of regret bringing bad attention to the team, for the most part. Want to let the fans know that I'm here, working hard, trying to get on the same page with Carson and looking forward to the season."

The Raiders issued a statement shortly after the player's arrest, saying the organization "takes matters such as this very seriously."
