Raiders rookie DL Bilukidi oozing with confidence

Christo Bilukidi is fluent in two languages -- English and French -- and is working at getting down the nuances of what is spoken in NFL huddles. The Raiders' sixth-round draft pick, the subject of Tuesday night's "Meet the Rookies" on CSN Bay Area's SportsNet Central, is not short on confidence as the first draftee in Georgia State's short football history. Bilukidi, though, is not what you'd call cocky, either."I am a tall guy, 6-4 and a half," the defensive lineman said during the Raiders' rookie camp in mid-May. "As long as I stay low and keep leverage, I will always have a chance at winning."Bilukidi, whose estranged father was an Angolan diplomat, has also lived in Angola, France, Brazil and Canada. And while he began his athletic career as a basketball player, he thought he'd have a legit shot at being drafted by the NFL after his junior season at Georgia State in downtown Atlanta. "We had junior pro day and Tampa (Bay) and Jacksonville came and talked to me after my 40(-yard dash) and said I would have a shot," said Bilukidi, who had a school-record 10 career sacks with 16 tackles for a loss. "I told myself I would do everything better the next year and have a real shot this year."Interestingly enough, Bilukidi was the lone Raiders draft pick to have actually visited the team at its complex before hearing his name called by the team. He was also drafted by the Canadian Football League's Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the third round."Definitely opening doors," he said. "Me being drafted shows that Georgia State has athletes, even for a small school in a small program. Definitely opening doors for the players that are there now."I dont know if anybody else has ever been drafted by both leagues. Its crazy."Crazier still, though, was the rookie lesson he learned via social media just before the Raiders' three-day mandatory minicamp earlier this month."Ran a red light n got pulled over," Bilukidi Tweeted, "cop ask me what I do n I said I'm a Raider, I dodged a 428 ticket. BigLeague."Like I said, the rookie's got confidence, even if common sense would have prevailed here. And yes, he removed the Tweet shortly thereafter.
