SANTA CLARA -- Tight end Delanie Walker, who did not practice Wednesday due to bruises to his ribs and hip, returned to limited practice for the 49ers on Thursday. The 49ers face the St. Louis Rams on Sunday, and Walker could see increased playing time for the remainder of the season after a season-ending knee injury to slot receiver Kyle Williams. After Williams' injury Sunday against the New Orleans Saints, the 49ers featured more formations with two tight ends and fewer personnel groups of three wideouts.Outside linebacker Aldon Smith, who earlier in the day was named NFC Defensive Player of the Month for November, was limited with a left shoulder injury.RELATED: Aldon named Player of the Month
