SANTA CLARA -- Kicker David Akers on Wednesday was back on the practice field, where he was seen hitting a 50-yard field goal.

It was the same distance at which he missed his first kick on Sunday against the New Orleans Saints. He also had a 33-yarder blocked. Akers has made just 19 of 27 field-goal attempts this season.
Coach Jim Harbaugh said the 49ers brought in veteran kickers Billy Cundiff and Nate Kaeding for workouts Tuesday because Akers has an unspecified injury. The 49ers plan to make no roster move because Akers appears to be fine.RELATED: 49ers look at kickers
"I think it'll probably be on the injury report that David Akers is working through something and we want to make sure that we have a Plan B," Harbaugh said.Tight end Delanie Walker, who sustained a right hip bruise while making a catch against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday, said he was fine. He went through stretching drills with his teammates Wednesday but was not expected to practice.Walker sustained the injury on a hit from New Orleans safety Isa Abdul-Quddus, who was injured on the play. Walker remained in for several plays before leaving the game."I think when he hit me, he put his head down and hit me with the top of his helmet," Walker said, "and he probably knocked him out a little bit, just from the force of hitting me when I was jumping."The 49ers have an open roster spot. The club placed receiver Kyle Williams (knee) and running back Kendall Hunter (Achilles) on injured reserve. The 49ers filled one of the spots, activating undrafted rookie running back Jewel Hampton from the reservenon-football injury list.Harbaugh said the 49ers are still assessing what to do with their final roster spot."The sad thing for all of us is two known friends and trusted agents, Kyle Williams and Kendall Hunter, are going to be out for the season," Harbaugh said. "Two guys that our football team loves and loves competing with, and they'll be back, but they're not going to be back this year."So the next guy has to step up and that's all our running backs -- Brandon Jacobs, LaMichael James, Anthony Dixon -- are going to have to do to fill the void that Kendall's leaving. We feel good about those guys."Harbaugh on the five-year extension the club worked out with All-Pro inside linebacker NaVorro Bowman: "He's a true 49er, that's for sure, and he's a football player. And excited he'll be with us long term."
