49ers rookies excited to see their jerseys in lockers

Rookies and selected veterans reported Saturday for the opening of 49ers training camp in Santa Clara.

After seeing his jersey in his locker, Deante Purvis, a rookie cornerback from UNLV, tweeted,First Time ever having my name on my Jersey.Blessedinstagr.ampNXKvdDNXEp Deante Purvis (@humptypurvis20) July 21, 2012Likewise, Al Netter, a rookie offensive lineman from Northwestern tweeted, What a great bday present! twitter.comAlNetterstatu Al Netter (@AlNetter) July 21, 2012Jason Slowey, whom the 49ers drafted in the sixth round (No.199 overall), tweeted,Never had a jersey with my name on it b4 instagr.ampNXHpBgrlkQ Jason Slowey (@JasonSlowey) July 21, 2012Kourtnei Brown, a rookie linebacker from Clemson, also tweeted a picture of his jersey.

All four players have "work to do" to make the 49ers' 53-man roster.
The players will get some practices together before the veterans are scheduled to report on Thursday. The practices involving the rookies will be closed to the media.The first full-squad practice is slated for Friday. The team's first practice in pads is scheduled for Sunday, July 29.The 49ers open the exhibition season on Friday, Aug. 10, against the Minnesota Vikings at Candlestick Park.
