Alex Smith not limited in practice

SANTA CLARA -- Quarterback Alex Smith went through a full practice Wednesday and is expected to be fine for the 49ers' game Sunday against the New York Giants.

Smith sustained a sprain to the middle finger of his throwing hand in the fourth quarter of the 49ers' victory Sunday over the Buffalo Bills. He said he should be fine for Sunday's game against the New York Giants.

Running back Brandon Jacobs, who earlier Wednesday told USA Today he's been healthy enough to play for two weeks, also went through a full practice. Jacobs took part in full practices last week.
