Bills get to work preparing for Kaepernick

The 49ers' use of backup quarterback Colin Kaepernick a week ago gave the Buffalo Bills plenty to consider for Sunday's game at Candlestick Park. How much will the Bills prepare for the 49ers' option attack with Kaepernick at quarterback?"It's a lot," Bills coach Chan Gailey said Wednesday in a conference call with reporters who cover the 49ers. "That puts a lot of stress on your defense to prepare for that week-in and week-out. He's done a good job with running what they've put in and they've done a good job of keeping it varied, so it's not the same all the time."RELATED: 49ers play time: Kaepernick makes most of opportunities
Kaepernick replaced starter Alex Smith for four snaps in the first half of the 49ers' 34-0 victory over the New York Jets. He ran twice for 24 yards and a touchdown, threw an incomplete deep pass for Randy Moss, and handed off once.Kaepernick has rare running and throwing ability. While at Nevada, he was the first player in NCAA history to throw for at least 2,000 yards passing and rush for at least 1,000 yards in three consecutive seasons. The 49ers traded up to select him in the second round of the 2011 draft. So how will the Bills try to prepare to face Kaepernick? Gailey said they'll use backup quarterback Tyler Thigpen, as well as quarterbackreceiver Brad Smith on the scout team."Tyler can run the football," Gailey said. "He can't mimic exactly what Colin is able to do because of his size and speed. But it's like all the rest of the players, we can't mimic all the players, either. So you come as close as you possibly can."
