Jacobs, Ginn doubtful for Sunday

SANTA CLARA -- It appears as if the 49ers will be without running back Brandon Jacobs and receiverreturn man Ted Ginn on Sunday against the Detroit Lions.Ginn rehabbed his right ankle sprain at the beginning of practice Thursday. Jacobs, who sustained a left knee sprain in an exhibition game Aug. 18 at Houston, was not on the practice field. Both players sat out the 49ers' season-opener Sunday at Green Bay.It's unlikely 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh would suit up either Jacobs or Ginn for a game without first going through a Wednesday or Thursday practice, during which time the 49ers install most of their game plan for the upcoming opponent.
Linebacker NaVorro Bowman (shoulder) was limited in practice Wednesday. Bowman was on the practice field Thursday, and his status for the game Sunday does not appear to be in doubt.Meanwhile, All-Pro receiver Calvin Johnson, who did not practice Wednesday due to a foot injury, had a full practice on Thursday. Cornerback Chris Houston (ankle) was limited. Detroit cornerback Bill Bentley (concussion), safety Louis Delmas (knee), defensive end Lawrence Jackson (calf) and linebacker Travis Lewis (quad) did not practice.
