Safety Dashon Goldson's flattening of Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Early Doucet was a legal hit, the NFL confirmed Friday.
Goldson was not penalized during the game, and the NFL announced he would not be fined, either. That outcome did not come as a surprise to 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh or Goldson.
"Vince Lombardi would be proud," Harbaugh said Monday night after the 49ers' 24-3 victory over the Cardinals.

Goldson avoided helmet-to-helmet contact as he leveled Doucet while breaking up a fourth-quarter pass across the middle. Goldson's left shoulder crashed into Doucet's right side, sending Doucet crashing onto his back. Doucet remained on the turf for a few moments before leaving under his own power.
As the Cardinals prepare to face the Green Bay Packers on Sunday, Doucet was not listed on the injury report this week.
When told that Harbaugh invoked Lombardi's name, Goldson responded: "That's a compliment. It was a hard, clean hit, and that's something to be proud of. I'm proud of it. And I'm happy for that guy that he's OK and he got back in the game."
