Play time: Boone splits duty at guard, tackle

When Joe Staley was forced out of Sunday's game with a concussion, starting guard Alex Boone stepped outside and took over the duties at left tackle.Boone played all 61 offensive snaps in the 49ers' 26-3 loss to the New York Giants. He played the first 37 snaps at right guard and the final 24 at left tackle.Leonard Davis stepped in at right guard to fill in for Boone.Staley sustained a concussion when Giants safety Stevie Brown leveled Staley as he was pursuing Antrel Rolle after a third-quarter interception.Third wide receiver Kyle Williams saw his most playing time of the season. He played 34 snaps, and had four receptions for 40 yards. Randy Moss played 17 snaps. Moss produced 74 receiving yards on two receptions.
Backup quarterback Colin Kaepernick was on the field for 16 snaps, including all seven plays of the 49ers' final drive. Kaepernick ran twice for 6 yards and completed four of seven passes for 82 yards. He was also sacked twice. Kaepernick and starting quarterback Alex Smith were never on the field together.
