PHILADELPHIA -- Tim Lincecum has been scratched from tonight's game with the Phillies due to flu-like symptoms.
Giants manager Bruce Bochy made the announcement during batting practice at Citizens Bank Ballpark on Tuesday.
Barry Zito (3-2, 4.78 ERA), who was scheduled to go Wednesday, will start in Lincecum's place. He will be opposed by Vance Worley (6-1, 2.02)
Zito posted a 1.29 ERA in winning his first three starts off the DL, but was tagged for eight runs and seven hits while walking four in Saturday's 11-3 loss to the Padres.
In seven starts against the Phillies, Lincecum (8-8, 2.90) was 2-1 with a 3.17 ERA.He pitched one-third of an inning in Game 6 of the NLCS after taking the loss in Game 5.
According to Jaymee Sire, who is in Philadelphia, there is no word on whether Lincecum will be able to pitch in one of the later games in the series against the Phillies.
The Phillies (64-37) own baseball's best record at 64-37; the Giants (59-43) hold a four-game edge in the National League West.
This will be the first matchup of the teams since San Francisco defeated Philadelphia 4-2 in the 2010 National League Championship Series. The clubs split six regular season contests last year.
The Phils have won nine straight series at home, where they are 37-16 in 2011.
