SAN FRANCISCO – Matt Cain had no issues with his strained hamstring in a session off the bullpen mound, and provided he comes out of it fine, Giants manager Bruce Bochy said the right-hander would take the ball Saturday in St. Louis.

Santiago Casilla continues to make progress in his hamstring recovery, too – perhaps a little too much progress.

“He’s starting to get too giddy,” Bochy said of Casilla, whose strain is a more moderate Grade 2 to Cain’s milder Grade 1. “You’ve got to back him off. He’s doing too much in the weight room. We’ve got to be careful with him.. He’s been telling me, `I’ll be ready soon.”

Casilla worked up a sweat while throwing 40 pitches off flat ground. He’s expected to miss at least three more weeks.
