The San Francisco Giants have placed outfielder Justin Christian on the disabled list with a left wrist sprain and recalled outfielder Francisco Peguero from Triple-A Fresno to take his spot on the active roster.Christian hurt his wrist in the process of making an incredible catch in the Giants sweep-clinching 8-4 win in Los Angeles Wednesday night.Peguero, already on the Giants 40-man roster, had a 22-game hit streak come to an end Wednesday night as he went 0-for-4 in the Grizzlies win in Reno. A 5-foot-11, 195-pound outfielder from the Dominican Republican, Peguero gets his first call-up to the big leagues at age 24. He was hitting .272 with five home runs and 68 RBIs in his first season in Triple-A. He drew 15 walks and struck out 82 times in 476 plate appearances with the Grizzlies. In 26 games with the Giants, Christian, 32, was hitting just .125 with two RBIs and two steals. The Giants are in need of outfield help since Melky Cabrera was suspended 50 games due to a test that revealed a high level of testosterone.Peguero will wear No. 57 in his Giants debut, formerly worn by Jonathan Sanchez. Peguero is not in the lineup Thursday.
