Jose Abreu recently signed a $68 million contract with the Chicago White Sox, in what made headlines as the most lucrative deal ever signed by a non-Japanese international player.

The most highly sought-after free agent on the market following the close of the regular season, Abreu was courted by many teams, including the San Francisco Giants.

His back-loaded six year deal breaks down as follows:

Signing bonus: $10 million
2014: $7 million
2015: $7 million
2016: $10 million
2017: $10.5 million
2018: $11.5 million
2019: $12 million

If Abreu develops into a star player for the White Sox, his $68 million contract would be a relatively low price tag.
