Giants Diamond Girls: Ali Bumgarner

Amy: So this is big news. This is Ali Bumgarner, and this is the very first installment of Diamond Girls, so you're my true guinea pig. Thank you so much for doing this with me. You've logged onto csnbayarea.com and I wanted fans to get to know the Giants players' wives, because I think you're just as important as the fellas that are out there on the field. And your man is Madison, and you just got great news: Madison's going to sign a five-year contract, or did, and you will be here through at least 2017 if not longer. Ali, what does that mean for you guys? That's- That's great news.

Ali: Well, we were really excited that we'll be here for that long. I feel like, really that- I feel relieved that we're gonna be here for so long.

A: That's what Madison said.

AB: So we're really excited, yeah.

A: That he can just go out there and pitch because he's taking care of his family now for at least five years. Now, you guys have been together since high school.

AB: Yes.

A: So could you have even imagined in high school dating Madison that this is where you would end up? You're only 22 years old, so it hasn't been that long, but what's the journey been like for you two?

AB: No it's really weird 'cause I never even really thought base- You know? Like...We farm. My dad, you know, we have horses, cows, so we don't really... Baseball, that's crazy. And then he got drafted and we were so excited.

A: Oh my god that's so much fun. You guys are such a cute couple. So you need to set the record straight though about the marriage gift.

AB: The cow.

A: The cow.

AB: The cow was not a marriage gift. It was actually just- I just wanted to save a cow, 'cause the momma died or something, and so he brings the cow home in the back of the truck with my brother, and it's like three days old. And then I just bottle-fed it and...

A: Took care of it.

AB: Yep.

A: Aww. Now, are your families close?

AB: Mm-hmm. Yeah.

A: Because you're family- You have family out here a lot to watch him. So how often- You're living out here with him? Or do you move back and forth?

AB: Yeah, well I go back and forth a lot. Like I'm going to leave tomorrow.

A: Ok. And tell me a little bit about being a "baseball wife." It seems like there's a really good group here. Young, up and coming, gets along well.

AB: Oh yeah, we have fun. We get together, we, we have little... Like I think they're going to New York. I'm not gonna get to go but they're gonna have a good time in New York and I wish I was there but we have a lot of fun together.

A: And then you've got to give us a little scoop on Madison. Some type of pet peeve, because we know you're human, and we know that he bugs you some way somehow.

AB: He does. He dries off and throws his dirty clothes right where he takes them off.

A: He just drops them?

AB: Drops them inside out, the socks inside out so I gotta touch his nasty stuff and put it the right way.

A: Can't you tell him you're not gonna touch it anymore?

AB: I could, but he probably wouldn't listen.

A: Maybe by 2013.

AB: Right.

A: Ok, alright. That is Ali Bumgarner, she's such a cutie, and thank you so much for joining us. The best part is that Madison said she wasn't going to do it, and she did it! So now you're gonna stop picking up those dirty...chonies.

AB: Right!

A: Yeah, no more of that. Thanks for logging on to csnbayarea.com for Diamond Girls, and we'll have more for you each home stand. See you next ti
