DENVER – The Giants have so many rehabbing players at their spring training complex in Scottsdale, the equipment truck might as well make a second run back to the desert.
Chad Gaudin was due to join Matt Cain and Jeremy Affeldt in Scottsdale, where he’ll begin throwing again as soon as his carpal tunnel syndrome calms down. Cain, who was hit on the pitching arm by a line drive, gets to enjoy a little time at his offseason home as he heals up.

Affeldt is the guy breaking a sweat; he threw off a bullpen mound Monday and the tentative plan calls for him to pitch a simulated inning Sept. 2 when the Giants arrive at San Diego’s Petco Park.
As for Angel Pagan, he’s continuing his rehab assignment with Triple-A Fresno and infielder Tony Abreu was due to rejoin the Grizzlies as well.
Finally, Andres Torres traveled to North Carolina to have his heel examined by Dr. Robert Anderson. He’ll see the doc on Tuesday.

As for the guys on the active roster, Giants manager Bruce Bochy said he plans to give Buster Posey a day off Tuesday. The Rockies will be glad to hear it. Posey has reached base in 48 consecutive games against Colorado since going 0 for 3 in his first ever appearance vs. the Rockies. He’s hitting .411 with a .488 on-base percentage during the streak.
