CSNBayArea.com staffLeft-handed starter Jonathan Sanchez threw off flat ground Tuesday at AT&T Park and on Thursday will head to Arizona, where Giants manager Bruce Bochy hopes he will be able to throw off a mound in a week.
Bruce Bochy spoke with reporters before the Giants' game against the Padres Tuesday and said that Sanchez feels better and his ankle will be evaluated for swelling. If all is well with his injured ankle, he will head to Arizona with rehabbing catcher Buster Posey.
Sanchez, 28, is 4-7 with a 4.26 ERA in 19 starts this season and 38-46 with a 4.26 ERA in his six-year Giants career.
