PROGRAMMING NOTE: Giants Pregame Live begins at 12:30 on CSN Bay Area, followed by Giants-Padres at 1:05, with Giants Postgame Live immediately after the final out.

Padres starter Clayton Richard may not have slept very well Saturday night in anticipation of facing the Giants on Sunday. Why? Well, in three starts against the orange and black this year Richard is 0-3 with a 7.64 ERA.

The Giants defeated Richard and the Padres 4-1 on April 29, 6-5 on June 6, and 7-1 on July 23.

It is surprising the Giants have had so much success against Richard this season because over seven starts in 2010 and 2011 combined, Richard was 5-1 with a 2.11 ERA against San Francisco.

Ryan Vogelsong is coming off his worst start in a Giants uniform. You all remember what happened against the Nationals Monday night, right? Vogelsong allowed eight runs on nine hits in 2.2 innings, as he failed to complete at least six innings for the first time since September 21, 2011.

In one start against the Padres earlier this season, Vogelsong stymied Padres hitters, allowing one run on four hits over seven dominant innings.

The Giants scored eight runs on 14 hits Saturday night, and as a result, Bruce Bochy has penciled in the same lineup for Sunday afternoon. However, that isn't necessarily because of the Giants' success Saturday. It's mainly because Padres starter Clayton Richard is a lefty, and Bochy has seldom used Brandon Crawford and Gregor Blanco against left-handed pitchers.

It doesn't hurt that the right-handed hitting Joaquin Arias went 3-for-5 with three RBI Saturday, and is 12-for-29 (.462) over his last 11 games.

Starting Justin Christian on the other hand? He is 1-for-28 over his last 16 games and doesn't have a hit since July 6.
