Dan Uggla is starting at second base and batting seventh Friday night for the San Francisco Giants in the series opener against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

San Francisco announced a number of roster moves on Friday afternoon. Second baseman Marco Scutaro was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a strained lower back. Infielder Ehire Adrianza also hit the 15-day DL with a strained right hamstring.

Contracts for second baseman Dan Uggla and infielder Tony Abreu were purchased from Triple-A.

And infielder Nick Noonan and left-handed pitcher Jose De Paula have been designated for assignment.
