The Giants placed reliever Clay Hensley on the disabled list with a right groin strain, manager Bruce Bochy said before Wednesday's game in Houston.
Bochy said that Hensley has been pitching with the groin injury for a couple of weeks and that it was affecting his location and stuff. Hensley has a 4.37 ERA in 45.1 innings with the Giants this season.
While Bochy loses one right-hander from his bullpen, he gained another left-hander as Jeremy Affeldt returned from paternity leave.
