The Giants are in familiar territory after getting off to a hot start to the 2014 season, but they're hoping recent history won't repeat itself.

The team's 24-14 record through 38 games this season is eerily similar to last season's 23-15 start which had the Giants on top of the NL West and the Dodgers seven games back in the division basement.

The Dodgers went on to post an NL West best 92-70 record while the Giants floundered to finish the season 10 games under .500 and just out of last place.
