Giants pitcher Chad Gaudin is in trouble with the law after being charged with open and gross lewdness, a misdemeanor, following an incident at a Las Vegas hospital in January of this year.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports the 30-year-old Gaudin was charged earlier this month by the Clark County District Attorney’s office.

Police said Gaudin was drunk at the Desert Springs Hospital at 4:30 a.m. on the morning of January 27 when he approached a woman lying on a gurney in the emergency room lobby. He allegedly told the woman "she was gorgeous" and touched her face and breast, according to the victim.

A paramedic saw Gaudin's advances and told him to stay away from the woman, but Gaudin refused. The report says hospital security held down the Giants pitcher who was "yelling and using profanity" until police arrived.

The arresting officer's report said Gaudin appeared to be intoxicated with slurred speech, bloodshot eyes and had trouble repeating his house addess and where he lived.

Gaudin began the year in the Giants bullpen before taking Ryan Vogelsong's spot in the starting rotation after Vogelsong went on the disabled list with a fractured hand. Overall, Gaudin is 2-1 with a 2.44 ERA in 23 appearances.
