The Giants announced the signing of infielder Emmanuel Burriss and backup catcher Eli Whiteside to one-year contracts Monday. The moves bolster manager Bruce Bochy's bench as the club gets set for Spring Training 2012.
Whiteside's signing was confirmed by Comcast SportNet Bay Area's Jaymee Sire on Saturday.

Whiteside batted .197 (42-for-213) with career-highs in doubles (8), RBI (17) and games played (82), along with hitting a career-high tying four home runs in 2011.
Burriss, 26, bounced back and forth from Triple-A Fresno to San Francisco on three different occasions finished the year hitting .204 in 59 games.
