Two days after lasting just three innings against theGiants, Jonathan Sanchez has been placed on the disabled list with biceptendinitis. The former Giants pitcher becomes the second member of the Rockies already depleted rotation to go down with aninjury in the past three days. Christian Friedrich, who was originally slatedto start for Coloradoon Sunday, was unable to throw a bullpen session on Friday, and an MRI revealeda stress fracture in his back that will end his season. This is not the first time Sanchezs left bicep has sent himto the disabled list. Sanchez was placed on the DL with bicep tendinitis in Maythis season by the Royals and by the Giants last June. The 29-year-old left-hander gave up two runs on three hitsand three walks in his three-inning start against the Giants on Friday. San Francisco went on towin that game, 16-4.Sanchez has had a rough year since being dealt from theGiants to the Kansas City Royals for Melky Cabrera before the season. WhileCabrera has excelled with his new ballclub, Sanchez posted a 7.76 ERA and a 1-6record with the Royals, leading them to designate him for assignment on July17.Sanchez hasnt fared anybetter since getting traded to the Rockieson July 20, giving up 12 earned runs in 11 and one-third innings. With the exception of his 13-9 2010 season, in which he hada 3.07 ERA, Sanchez has struggled with control, only posting an ERA of betterthan 4.95 two other times.Short on starting pitching, the Rockieshave experimented with a four-man rotation to minimal success this season, highlighted by an MLB-worst 5.50 ERA. Coloradorecalled right-hander Tyler Chatwood to take Sanchezs spot.
