Tim Lincecum has been scratched from his scheduled Cactus League start Saturday against the Chicago Cubs with a blister.

Lincecum has dealt with blister issues before, including during the 2010 postseason, and told Alex Pavlovic and Henry Schulman that he plans on playing catch Saturday and doesn’t expect to miss much time.

“We'll play it by ear but we're not trying to compound the issue," he said, according to Pavlovic. "It's not too terrible. Nothing I haven't dealt with before. I don't want to compound it and make it worse and turn it into something to keep me out during the season."

Right-hander Yusmeiro Petit will start in Lincecum’s place against the Cubs in the 1:05 local time game at Scottsdale Stadium.

Like in 2010, the bothersome blister is on the middle finger of his pitching hand. During the Giants’ postseason run, Lincecum was dominant despite the blister, which he said at the time had calloused over.
