Tim Lincecum might not face a tougher opponent in 2013 than his former landlady.
The two-time Cy Young Award winner is being sued by Mindy Freile, according to an SFGate.com report. Freile is seeking around $200,000 to pay for damage she alleges Lincecum caused to the Mission townhouse he rented in 2011.
The report indicates damage caused to "bedding, doors, carpet, pillows, kitchenware, linens, furniture, household appliances," and a long list of other items.
The pitcher is denying the charges.
"Mr. Lincecum will vigorously contest the allegations," his lawyer Peter Bransten was quoted.
Lincecum, 28, didn't want the case dragged out into the public, but it doesn't look like he'll get his wish. A Superior Court judge and the First District Court of Appeals decided that an private arbitration hearing was not suitable because Lincecum's rental agreement stipulates that he gave up "procedural rights in litigation," meaning Lincecum doesn't have the ability to ask for an arbitration hearing.
No timetable has been set as to when the court will hear the case.
