Pablo Sandoval made his second consecutive rehab start with the Single-A San Jose Giants Saturday, batting third and playing third base against the Lancaster JetHawks.
Sandoval recorded the first hit of his rehab assignment in his first at-bat, getting a single on a ground ball into left field. Sandoval played seven innings and finished the night 1-for-4 at the plate.
Giants manager Bruce Bochy said Saturday that Sandoval will likely rejoin the team on Monday when they open a home series with the Washington Nationals.
NEWS: Sandoval likely to return Monday
Hell probably play one more game Sunday and well hope all goes well there, Bochy said. Hell possibly be joining us in the next series.
Sandoval, who went 0-for-2 in five innings in his rehab debut on Friday, has been out since July 24 with a strained left hamstring.
In 62 games with the Giants this season, Sandoval is batting .299 with eight home runs and 33 RBI.
