SAN FRANCISCO – Buster Posey left Sunday’s game in the fourth inning after taking a jarring foul tip off the mask.

Posey absorbed the foul tip in the top of the inning when Michael McKenry foul tipped a fastball from Madison Bumgarner. Posey stretched his jaw as he was checked by head athletic trainer Dave Groeschner, but remained in the game.

Hector Sanchez pinch hit for Posey in the bottom of the inning and hit a solo home run. Pablo Sandoval made it back-to-back homers as the Giants took a 5-2 lead over the Colorado Rockies.

Posey also took a hard foul tip off the mask last week during the series with the Washington Nationals.

Check back for more on Posey. We’ll have it soon as information becomes available.
