SAN DIEGO – Pablo Sandoval had X-rays that ruled out a fracture when he was hit by a pitch on the left elbow in the first inning Saturday night, but he’s questionable to play in Sunday’s series finale at Petco Park

The Giants are hoping that might be all the time he misses.

Sandoval was struck when he swung at an 0-1 slider from Odrisamer Despaigne. He was checked by trainers and stayed in the game, but the next pitch was a ball and Brandon Belt was caught stealing for the third out. So Sandoval didn’t have an official plate appearance.

Joaquin Arias replaced him at third base in the bottom of the inning.

Sandoval wore a wrap after the game and was in no mood to discuss the injury.

“Sore,” he said, without breaking stride.

Giants manager Bruce Bochy said Sandoval’s elbow was moving toward the ball when he got hit flush.

“He’s pretty sore to play tomorrow but we’ll see,” Bochy said.
