Couture healthy after shoulder surgery

SAN JOSESharks forward Logan Couture still has a fairly significant, six inch scar on his left shoulder after undergoing offseason surgery to repair a lingering problem that he said dated back to 2010.

But, fear not, Sharks fanshe said on Monday that hes healthy and ready to go for the start of the season, whenever that is. Couture was one of 22 NHL players and prospects to take the ice at the teams practice facility for an informal skate that lasted a little more than an hour.

Really good now, Couture said of his shoulder. It sucks having surgery, and its tough sleeping right after it happened. Obviously it doesnt look very good right now, but it feels better, so thats positive.

Couture went under the knife on May 1, shortly after the St. Louis Blues eliminated the Sharks in the first round. He was forced to wear a sling for three weeks immediately following surgery before he could even start rehab.

The teams only representative at the midseason All-Star Game, Coutures production declined significantly down the stretch and in the postseason. Although he finished with 31 regular season goals, tied with Joe Pavelski for the team lead, the sophomore had just one goal in the final 13 games of the regular season and one in the five-game ouster to the Blues. Thats two goals in 18 games for those of you who struggle with math.

Couture, 23, was insistent at the end of the year that the shoulder wasnt the reason for his failure to put the puck in the net, and stuck to that script more than four months later.

You cant sit here and say oh I didnt score this amount of goals because I hurt my shoulder. No, its not like that, he said.
