No movement in Nash trade talks

The San Jose Sharks havent had any discussions with the Blue Jackets regarding their captain Rick Nash in months, a source has told CSNBayArea.com.

The Blue Jackets havent come off of their insistence that Logan Couture be a part of a deal for the scoring winger, which is a non-starter for San Jose. The Sharks are reportedly one of a handful of clubs to which Nash would be willing to go.

REWIND: Report -- Sharks have offer in for Nash

It may be difficult for Columbus general manager Scott Howson to find any team to take Nash at this point. The 27-year-old carries a 7.8 million salary cap hit for the next six seasons, which becomes even more unattractive of a price tag when you consider that the NHL owners are trying to significantly roll back the current cap in ongoing collective bargaining negotiations.

Meanwhile, rumors surfaced on Tuesday morning that the Sharks offered defenseman Dan Boyle to the New York Rangers in exchange for forward Marian Gaborik shortly after the end of the season, but that the deal fell through when Gaborik required shoulder surgery that will likely sideline him until December. That rumor was categorized by a source close to the situation as completely false.

Still, CBCs Elliotte Friedman points out that that doesnt mean Boyle is untouchable. According to Friedman, Boyles name has popped up a few times in regards to a possible trade. Boyles limited no-trade clause kicked in on July 1, and according to Friedman, teams are calling about the 36-year-old blueliner.
