Sharks sign four, including Galiardi

The Sharks have agreed to one-year contracts with forwards TJ Galiardi, Frazer McLaren and Jonathan Matsumoto, and signed forward John McCarthy to a two-year deal, it was announced on Thursday.

Among the four, only Galiardi is expected to begin the season on the NHL roster. Had he not agreed to a deal, the 24-year-old would have gone to arbitration.

The Sharks acquired Galiardi on Feb. 27 from Colorado, along with Daniel Winnik, in exchange for Jamie McGinn. He had one goal in 14 games with the Sharks after tallying eight goals and six assists in 55 games for Colorado.

Galiardi previously tweeted that he had agreed to a contract with the Sharks on July 7.

McCarthy, 25, appeared in 10 games for San Jose last season, without registering a point. He led the Worcester Sharks in scoring with 47 points (20g, 27a) in 65 games.

McLaren saw action in seven games for the Sharks last season, going scoreless with nine penalty minutes. In 20 games with Worcester, he had one assist and 73 penalty minutes.

Matsumoto is the only player among the four that wasn't previously property of the club. The 25-year-old journeyman forward last season in the Florida and Carolina organizations, getting into one NHL game with the Panthers. In 392 career AHL games, Matsumoto has 124 goals and 157 assists for 281 points. He was originally drafted by Philadelphia in the third round in 2006.

In 14 career NHL games, Matsumoto has two goals and four penalty minutes.
