After draft lottery, Kings troll Sixers about swapping picks

The Kings entered the NBA draft lottery on Tuesday night with several different scenarios in play for their pick.

One that Vlade Divac is likely glad didn't play out was a scenario where the Kings moved ahead of the 76ers in the draft lottery. If that had played out, Philadelphia would have had the right to swap picks with the Kings. As an example, if the Kings had been awarded the No. 1 overall pick Tuesday night and the Sixers got the No. 4 overall pick, the two teams would have been forced to swap.

Why? Because of a trade the two teams made last summer.

In a move to clear cap space, Divac dealt Carl Landry, Jason Thompson and Nik Stauskas to the 76ers for a bag of air last summer. The Kings dumped potentially $33 million in salary in the trade, but it cost a future pick, as well as the rights for the Sixers to swap picks both this season and next.

But as the lottery played out, the Kings stayed put at No. 8 and the Sixers got the No. 1 pick, so no swap took place.

That didn't stop the Kings from bringing the topic up with the Sixers on Twitter a few minutes after the lottery ended.

"So, ... still open to that pick swap right now?" the Kings tweeted at the Sixers.

"New phone who dis," responded the Sixers.

With the No. 1 pick, Philadelphia will likely have their choice between LSU's Ben Simmons and Duke's Brandon Ingram.
