Rudy Gay recently exercised his second-year option with Sacramento that will bring him $19.3 million.
That means the Kings small forward is currently scheduled to hit the free agent market after the coming season. And before he'd be willing to consider signing a multi-year extension he wants to know that the organization has a long-term plan.

Gay expressed his concerns about the team to the Sacramento Bee.
“I don’t want to create a big fuss like it was before, but I’m taking my time,” Gay said to the Bee. “I’m open to doing things, but I really want to see where the organization is going.
“If I was going to opt out, I was definitely going to look at my options on different teams. But with me opting in, I’m not saying no extension is going to happen. I’m just trying to see where we’re going as a team and how we plan on getting better.”
Gay played some of the best basketball of his career with the Kings last season, averaging 20.1 points and 5.5 rebounds per game while shooting 48 percent from the field.
