The Sacramento Kings have found their next general manager. Denver Vice President of Basketball Operations Pete D'Alessandro will assume the role vacated by Geoff Petrie, a team source confirmed to CSNBayArea.com.

D'Alessandro just completed his third season as a member of the Nuggets front office. 2012-13 was his first as their VP of Basketball Ops. Prior to joining the Nuggets, D'Alessandro spent four years working in the Golden State Warriors front office. From 2004 to 2006, he served as the Warriors' Director of Basketball Operations. In 2006, he was named assistant general manager of the Warriors.

The Kings considered a number of high profile candidates for the position, including Knicks GM Scott Layden, former Pacers GMs David Morway and Larry Bird, and former Warrior Chris Mullin.

The hiring of D'Alessandro is the final piece in the re-construction of the Kings, joining owner Vivek Ranadive and head coach Michael Malone as the new braintrust of the organization.
