RIVERSIDE -- Jaylen Bland and Secean Johnson scored 20 points apiece and UC Riverside beat Santa Clara 77-63 on Thursday night.
Both Johnson and Bland were 7 of 15 from the field with Bland going 6 of 11 from the 3-point arc. Robert Boezeman, who made 4 of 6 3-point tries, added 12 points for the Highlanders, who were 13 of 29 from distance for 44.8 percent, just under their 45.2 overall percentage for the game.

Nate Kratch had 22 points and 12 rebounds for the Broncos (0-4). Jared Brownridge added 18 points.
The Broncos' last lead came with 6:55 left in the first half before the Highlanders closed the half on a 12-5 run to lead 33-28. UC Riverside went out in front by 12 with 12:06 left in the game and maintained its double-figures lead the rest of the way.
UC Riverside is 2-0 for the first time since the 1998-99 season.
