With their second-round pick (84th overall), the Giants selected right-hander Martin Agosta from St. Mary's College.
Agosta went 9-2 with a 2.18 ERA this season for the Gaels. He became the first nine-game winner at St. Mary's since 1991.
The 6-foot-1, 189-pound junior has three pitches -- fastball, curve and changeup -- and can reach the mid-90s. His 95 strikeouts 2012 season is the fourth-best, single-season total in school history.

Agosta played high school ball at Carmichael's Jesuit High with catcher Andrew Susac, a second-round pick by the Giants last season.
His 19 career win for the Gaels ranks third all-time. He recorded 223 career strikeouts.
Agosta is a lifelong Giants fan and his favorite player is Tim Lincecum.
At Jesuit, he helped lead his team to a Delta River League Championship and Sac-Joaquin Division 1 Sectional Championship. Jesuit finished the season ranked 11th in the state.
